SWeFS attempts to integrate WSN sensing and predictive modeling with remote sensing and GIS into a closed-loop active sensing system and implement a DDDAS scheme for fire detection and management.
SWeFS deals with multiple parameters and trade-offs, hence, considers and aims both for energy-efficiency and early-detection. The Sensor Web Fire Shield (SWeFS) research project aims at delivering:
- (i) a methodology for developing a novel Sensor Web platform as a Dynamic Data-Driven Assimilation System (DDDAS) for securing the WUI zones against environmental risks, and,
- (ii) a prototype DDDAS specifically optimized/tuned for addressing the serious threat of forest fires at national and international level.
